Possible changes to FMLA

FYI- a new bill has been introduced to Congress late 2013 that could provide employees 12 weeks of paid leave to attend to personal and family illnesses. This is NOT the same as FMLA.

The bill is attempting to address sex discrimination in the distribution of leave benefits. Under this new act, employees would receive 66% of their monthly wages capped at $1000 per week. Where would the money come from? The Social Security program. Keep in mind this program is funded by both employees and employers.
As it stands the bill is scheduled for separate House and Senate committee meetings.
